At With An Open Heart, LLC, we believe healing happens best when you feel truly seen—not just heard, but understood at the deepest level.
We're a culturally responsive therapy practice founded by Iliamari Vázquez Houston, LCSW, a proud Latina trauma therapist and daughter of Puerto Rican parents. Our entire team is made up of BIPOC and Latine clinicians who bring both professional expertise and lived experience to every session.
What that means for you: no wasted time explaining cultural context, family dynamics, or what it's like to navigate life between cultures. You can show up exactly as you are and focus on the healing work that matters.
We specialize in trauma therapy for first-generation individuals, BIPOC women, cycle breakers, and anyone navigating the complex journey of life transitions, identity exploration, and generational healing.
You're looking for a therapist who gets it—someone who understands what it means to carry the weight of generational expectations while trying to create healthier patterns.
This practice was created for you if:
You're navigating life transitions and feeling stuck between who you were raised to be and who you're becoming.
You're dealing with anxiety, stress, or depression that feels connected to something deeper than surface-level symptoms.
You've tried therapy before but felt like you had to translate your experience or explain your culture.
You're a first-generation individual breaking cycles and creating new paths for yourself and your family.
You're a BIPOC woman carrying the mental load of caregiving, working, and holding everything together.
You're a parent or parent-to-be navigating maternal or paternal mental health challenges.
You're ready to do the deep work—not just manage symptoms, but heal at the root.
We work with adolescents (14+), adults, couples, and families who are committed to transformation, not just coping.
A powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps process traumatic memories and reduce distress
Supervision that honors your identity, your clinical development, and the communities you serve.
Clinical immigration evaluations are detailed psychological assessments prepared by licensed mental health professionals to support immigration cases.
Support groups for moms, cycle breakers, and anyone ready to heal alongside others who get it.
A compassionate approach that helps you understand and heal different parts of yourself
Bring authentic, grounded expertise to your next conference, training, or community event.
We take a holistic, trauma-informed approach that honors the mind, body, and spirit.
From your first session, we build a relationship grounded in trust, collaboration, and cultural alignment. You're always in the driver's seat—we're here to support, guide, and walk alongside you.
Our clinicians are trained in specialized modalities designed for deep trauma healing:
We accept Aetna, Banner Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, and UMR. Out-of-network clients can receive superbills for reimbursement.
We're here to help you break cycles, not just manage symptoms. Our work is about creating lasting change that ripples through your life and into future generations. Progress over perfection, always.
Our focus is trauma —intergenerational trauma, complex trauma, identity-based trauma, and the unique impacts of systemic oppression. We use evidence-based approaches specifically designed for deep, lasting healing.
Our entire team identifies as BIPOC/Latine and shares the lived experiences of the communities we serve. We offer bilingual therapy in English and Spanish, and we understand the nuances of first-gen experiences, family systems, and navigating between cultures.
